Preparing correctly for your appointment is essential for the outcome of your treatment. It is also important for your safety during the session as the AW3 is a medical grade laser, the correct guidelines must be followed. This also applies to the aftercare advice provided by Poole Bay Laser Aesthetics
How long should be left between each hair removal treatment?
4-6 weeks between each appointment is usually advised. This depends on your hair/skin type as well as the area being treated. Different areas of the body have differing hair cycles and it depends which phase of the cycle the hair is in at the time of the treatment. Book a consultation and patch test where we can discuss this further
What age can laser treatments be performed?
Clients must be at least 18 years of age. PBLA reserve the right to ask for photographic ID if necessary
Do laser treatments hurt?
The integrated cooling mechanism that AW3 machine provides means that laser hair removal is virtually pain free. Laser skin rejuvenation and tattoo removal may be slightly more uncomfortable as the cooling technology cant’ be used, however, each pulse lasts less than a second.
Can laser treatments be performed if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
Due to hormonal changes during pregnancy/breastfeeding PBLA recommends that you wait until 3 months post pregnancy/breastfeeding to allow those fluctuations to normalise
What are the side effects of laser treatments?
Temporary side effects can include mild swelling, redness, itchiness and irritation
Why is a consultation and patch test necessary for laser treatments?
Gaining a past medical history is important as some medications/medical conditions are contraindicated by laser treatments. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and make a decision whether it is the right treatment for you.
A patch test allows me to identify your hair/skin type and needs to be carried out 48 hours prior to your treatment to identify any reactions
What do I need to do to prep for my appointment?
Shave the treatment area 12-24 hours prior to your treatment
Avoid chemical peels or laser resurfacing treatments 4 weeks prior to your appointment (for the treated area)
Avoid excessive sun exposure from solariums, tanning drugs and sunbathing 2 weeks prior to your treatment
Come to your appointment with clean skin with no lotions/perfumes on the treated area
What is the recommended aftercare post treatment?
Avoid excessive sweating for 24-48 hours post treatment including saunas, hot showers & exercising
No shaving, waxing or plucking the treatment area for 24-48 hours
Ensure the treated area is not excessively exposed to direct sunlight for at least 14 days and SPF 30+ is applied daily to protect the skin from unavoidable exposure
Could hair supplements effect my results?
Yes - as hair supplements stimulate hair growth and so it may take more treatments to gain the desired results
